Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and a giant gorilla named George have perfect chemistry in a movie based on a 1980 arcade game.

Im Leben Gibt Es Schon Genug Scheiße

Real head scratcher: Either this is the dumbest movie I’ve seen in a while, or it’s secretly a work of genius.

“Based on” an 1980s arcade game that was later ported to home video game systems,

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson stars as a primatologist at the San Diego Wildlife Sanctuary who finds himself trying to save the world when his best friend, a monkey named George, is infected by a gene-altering mutation that quickly It turns him into a huge, deadly killing machine full of rage.

It’s both a predictable batiche of an action movie—nothing happens here that you haven’t seen in a movie before, except for some wacky sign language humor from a giant gorilla—and strangely charming. To the degree

Succeeds, he does so specifically because he knows he doesn’t have a single original idea in his head, and he won’t even try to convince you otherwise. It’s a movie about hitting things, and things that shoot, and it also has The Rock.

If that sounds like something appealing to watch at the end of a long day, then this is the movie for you. Go knock yourself out. You’ll have fun—and you might leave the theater with something to think about, too.

Game, players chose one of three monsters and tried to reduce several cities to rubble, again and again, while avoiding a military attack. In the film, our heroes try to prevent that.

This twist results in a film with a synopsis that reads like something most people would cook up if asked to outline the plot of a generic action movie in 20 minutes. In the prequel, a research spaceship carrying some kind of giant, ferocious creature blows up, but not before a scientist on board escapes in a pod containing the “samples”. Then their code blows up, and the monsters survive and land on Earth – one in Wyoming, where a wolf finds it, one in the Everglades, where an alligator locates it, and one at the San Diego Wildlife Sanctuary, where George is good- natural. stumble upon it.

The research involves genetic modification, and of course, both types of illegal and is carried out by a Big Bad Corporation led by a couple of relatives: dim-but-beautiful Brett Wyden (Jake Lacy) and ‘to considerably more mass. sister Claire (Malin Akerman), who has a large office on top of a building where she stalks for making evil plans and watch on the screens, as befits a few villains.

Meanwhile, Davis Okoye (Johnson), the primatologist who raised George from birth, finds that his friendly, funny gorilla friend has been swallowed by a rabid monster. The film focuses on his quest to keep George safe, which leads him to team up with a scientist named Dr. Kate Caldwell (Naomie Harris), who used to work for the Wydens, and eventually a collaborator a sardonic government with the name Harvey Russell (Jeffrey Dean) Morgan), who delivers punchlines with a drawl. When a radio frequency broadcast by the Wydens draws the rapidly growing destructive creatures to Chicago, the trio is in pursuit, and the military begins to close in as well.

And so, yes, this movie has it all: a greedy corporate villain, a smart scientist, a strong and sensitive hero, big monsters, impending doom, and a very modest, not too hard-pressed, suggestive message that he

That’s not exactly a strike against him. Action movies like this should be explosive and loud and cathartic, and maybe a little funny. Sure,

Film Review: Rampage Is Exactly What It Promises To Be, And That’s Mostly A Bad Thing

It has some plot holes, but you definitely don’t care, and neither should you. This is a movie based on an arcade game; the goal is to get to the big fight.

It is also shot in a clear and coherent way; you almost always know where you are spatially in the long sequence of climate action, which is more than can be said for, say, the

Movies, or even a whole lot of Marvel movies. It’s strangely comforting to see huge fight sequences that feel so simple – instead of trying to make you dizzy, they want to cheer you up.

Dwayne Johnson, one of the few remaining movie stars who can open a movie just because he’s in it, has. (His last film, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle , made so much money that it recently became Sony’s most popular release of all time.) The best parts of

Are his scenes with George, which are really funny; the gorilla has an excellent sense of humor. But – is this strange to say? oh well – the pair’s chemistry is also great, and the only touching moments in the film come from their relationship.

But while Johnson is the film’s greatest strength, he is also, oddly enough, its weakest link. It seems someone made a miscalculation when writing Johnson’s character. People keep accusing Davis of being a bit of a misanthrope—of preferring the company of animals to humans, of “disliking” humans. That is his defining characteristic as a person: he does not like people.

Except Johnson can’t telegraph dislike for people. He is kind and polite, with a winning smile, and we never see him more than kind to man or beast, unless they deserve it. Sure he loves the company of animals—I mean, he’s a primatologist—and sure, his best friend is a gorilla, but it’s impossible to see him as anti-social or unfriendly. If you have Johnson in your action movie, you write the script around him. Davis would have been far more convincing as “shy” than “lighter,” but even that would have been a stretch given Johnson’s megawatt charisma.

Wants to be a great action movie, and it does just that. And if you (like me) want to overthink it, there’s a possibility that it might actually be great.

How To Watch Rampage On Netflix In The Usa?

The premise of the film is that DNA from a variety of creatures is split into one package that can be distributed to one animal, which then acquires some of the characteristics of the others. (For example, a wolf can not only become angry after being infected, but also develop the abilities of a porcupine and a flying squirrel.) And, importantly, it also grows very large and keeps getting bigger.

It was a fun arcade and video game with a simple idea (SMASH THINGS) and not much else. But infected with cinematic DNA, it becomes this weird hybrid monster, taking on traits that feel lifted from a number of other action movies, ranging from

Is that you are not sure how to feel about all this destruction. In the end, millions of people are likely to be dead and entire parts of cities and buildings alike. The destruction is unimaginable.

But at least it ends on a cheerfully upbeat note – you wouldn’t want to linger too long in the chaos and destruction because it might just kill the mood – which is completely predictable for a film like

And, well, kind of harassing. Watching people die in digital projection isn’t quite like watching an 8-bit city being leveled.

Yet the film’s only social critique, if it has one, is the suggestion that the cruel genetic modification of animals will lead to the chaos and death of humans. While

It’s almost certainly not some kind of veiled criticism of big, loud movies full of senseless violence, it is

Is on. It’s not, after all, a movie with high-falutin aspirations, which is why it’s very fun. But it’s hard not to think, just a little, if
